Torque IT and Novell boost local Linux training
Torque IT has been appointed a Novell Platinum Training Partner for SuSE Linux. Torque IT is the only partner in Africa to have met all criteria for this coveted status.
"Torque IT's Novell offering has matured to a large extent and we are pleased to be featured among Novell's highest achievers," says Carol Bouwer, Business Unit manager at Torque IT. "As part of our Novell partner standing, Torque IT will also deliver new certifications and training as soon as they become available and continually develop skills and instructors with only the highest qualifications."
She adds that a marked increase in the demand for Novell SusE Linux, particularly within Government, adds to the requirement for stringent standards in training and solution delivery.
Matthew Lee, channel manager at Novell South Africa, says that it is a major achievement to become Novell's only SuSE Linux Platinum Training Partner in South African. Partners have to fulfill all criteria in terms of consulting, sales knowledge, geographical coverage and participation in marketing activities. Performance measures are also in place as well as a requirement to conform to standards in terms of the number of certified Novell trainers and sales consultants and the ability to deliver advanced training on Novell Suse Linux.
"Torque IT has demonstrated its ability to lead with Novell, by actively finding training business, staying up to date on new Novell technologies and investing in certified trainers," Lee says.
He adds that the appointment of a Platinum Training partner shows Novell's own progress with training delivery in the South African market. "This fulfills Novell's go to market strategy to invest in and deliver high quality training through our partners, from fundamental to enterprise network services and the security around that," he says.
Torque IT further brings its relationship with Microsoft to the mix and, through this, a commitment to interoperability between Microsoft technologies and Novell Suse Linux.
"Linux is definitely on every chief executive's lips, but companies are also looking for interoperability and collaboration to extend their existing investment in software. Torque IT is delivering on the training portion of this interoperability substantially, as instructors effectively deliver a key message that fulfills end-user demand and the requirement to link these systems together," Lee says.
Bouwer adds that Torque IT's learnership initiatives also aid in the development of young individuals who are interested in technology and instills a passion for certain technologies, such as Novell Linux, from a grassroots level.
